According to the police, 25-year-old Sunil Kumar, who works as a security guard at a private bank in DLF Phase-2, was returning to his room in Rajiv Colony in a cab after his duty around 10.30 pm.

“I de-boarded the cab near Signature Tower flyover and started walking to my room. As I was walking, three men on a motorcycle waylaid me. Two of them got down and pointed a gun at my stomach. They snatched my mobile phone, memory card, wallet and 13,000 in cash and fled,” Kumar said in his first information report (FIR) registered at the Sector 40 police station.

Vijay Tyagi, Kumar’s neighbour who helped him file the complaint, said that Kumar, from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly hit with the pistol butt and slapped by the suspects.

Rakesh Kumar, assistant sub-inspector (ASI), Sector 40 police station said, “The suspects are at large. We have not been able to identify them. The police are probing the matter. A preliminary probe suggests that the suspects are not affiliated to a gang.”

A case was registered against the suspects under sections 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 379 B (snatching and use of force) of IPC and relevant sections of the Arms Act at Sector 40 police station on Saturday.
