“I have forwarded Haryana Urban Development Authority’s (Huda) proposal to the NHAI head office in New Delhi. NHAI will grant permission only after considering the safety of the expressway,” said a senior NHAI official.

In April 2012, Huda started laying a 16-km water pipeline between Basai water treatment plant and Sector 51. Its completion time was February 2013 but the deadline has been extended to October this year.

The Huda had first sent the proposal six months ago.

“We have sent a fresh request letter with a survey report that we conducted last week as per NHAI’s direction. As soon as we get the nod, we would start the pipeline laying work here,” said Subhash Piplani, a senior Huda official.

Of the 16-km line, Huda has already completed work on roughly 12 km.

“Our work from Basai to Hero Honda Chowk is complete. Work is under progress from Hero Honda Chowk to the Sector-51 boosting station. Even after we get the nod, it will take a few months to complete the work,” said the Huda official. In a bid to augment water supply for New Gurgaon by October this year, Huda had sought permission from NHAI to lay new pipelines.
