PoundFit, a light, full-body cardio workout, uses tools and beats much like dandiya. Participants grab a pair of ripstix (a version of drum sticks) and follow a choreographed workout that looks like they’re playing the drums, stretching and dancing passionately to the beats of some kind of Pari Hoon Main routine all at the same time.

“Pound is a combination of cardio, strength training, Pilates and power yoga,” says trainer Priti Panchmatia, who has introduced Pound to India. “You can lose nearly 800 calories in an hour.”
