Unprotected sex increases the risk of pregnancy as well as STDs. Sex with an unknown partner also multiplies the risk of STDs. HIV can be transmitted by having unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person, from an infected mother to her unborn child, by sharing of needles with an infected person and being transfused with infected blood.
There are numerous misconceptions about the spread of HIV. In the past it was wrongly believed that HIV spreads by touching, sharing a room or mosquito bites. This, believes have done lots of harm to the cause of HIV.
A virgin is a person who has not had sex. Thus technically the chances of contracting HIV through such a person is minimal. It is still adviced to use a condom while having sex. In the past, it was believed that sex with a virgin can cure any sickness. What a wasteful assumption!
