The Assassin's Creed movie adaptation is finally parkouring its way into production after numerous delays. And now, we get our first look at star Michael Fassbender in full costume. And it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Fassbender is playing Callum Lynch, a new assassin created exclusively for the film adaptation. So for those of you who were expecting the return of Ezio Auditore or Altair might be a little disappointed. But one look at Fassbender in the iconic assassin's costume is sure to convert the most cynical of nerds.

As far as the image is concerned, it looks really, really good. Fassbender looks perfect for the role, armed with a slight stubble on his face, a steely glare under his hood and some very deadly weapons under his sleeves. Perfect.

The film will use the traditional conceit from the games and feature a modern-day protagonist who goes into the past (some cool tech is involved) to carry out missions as his ancestor. And this time the setting will be 15th century Spain.

The most recent games in the series have introduced new features like naval warfare in addition to the fluid parkour and stealth assassinations. We can totally picture epic action sequences in the movie as Fassbender leaps from buildings, assassinates Templars and maybe even commandeers armadas.

The film will be a reunion of the Macbeth crew as Marion Cotillard plays the female lead opposite Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel returns behind the camera. If this doesn't save videogame adaptations then nothing ever will. It's expected in theatres on December 21 next year.
