Pre-production work is already underway for his debut flick, The End Of Bandit Queen, and it is scheduled to go on the floors in March 2013.

Produced by L&L International, the screenplay of the film has also been re-written by John.

Initially, there was speculation that international filmmaker of Indian origin, Mira Nair, would direct film. However, she was already committed to other productions.

Barry John has spent over a year evolving the new screenplay. It is inspired by events in the life of Sher Singh Rana, who was accused of assassinating Phoolan Devi in 2001 and who is still an undertrial in Tihar Jail in Delhi.
