‘East Is East brought me luck’: Jimi Mistry
Actor Jimi Mistry who started his career with East is East now returns to screen as Tariq, the rebellious Khan sibling in West is West.
Actor Jimi Mistry started his career with the 1999 blockbuster East is East. And now after a decade-long successful career in Hollywood, the 38-year-old actor returns to screen as Tariq, the rebellious Khan sibling in West is West. “East is East was a big part of my life and the springboard for my career. I will always be there for it,” he says.
The actor shares the screen with veteran actor Om Puri after a long time. “Since our first film together, we made a bond that we will always be brothers. But obviously there are some people who I haven’t kept in touch with, such as Om. But I haven’t seen him for 7-8 years. It was quite emotional seeing him after so long,” he says.
On his journey so far, Mistry says, “I’ve had a good career and it’s all due to East is East... I feel blessed about the career I’ve had.”
