Actor-director Mel Gibson is set to star in the sequel to Robert Rodriguez's violent 2010 action film Machete.

Actor-director Mel Gibson is set to star in the sequel to Robert Rodriguez's violent 2010 action film Machete.
The 56-year-old is in talks to play a supporting role in the follow up Machete Kills. The original film starred Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez and Lindsay Lohan, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Actor Danny Trejo will be returning as the disgraced Mexican federales with a bad attitude in the movie, which director Rodriguez hopes to helm solo before tackling the Sin City sequel. He earlier directed the original film with Ethan Maniquis.
The new story sees Machete being called upon to stop a cartel leader and an arms dealer who have a weapon in space.
