Being termed as an emotional powerhouse, the film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is fetching rave reviews across the globe.

Based on author Jonathan Safran Foer’s bestseller of the same name, the film stars actors Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock in the lead, and was nominated for the Academy Awards this year, in two categories. Hanks plays Thomas, the father of 11-year-old Oskar. The boy finds a mysterious key that had belonged to Thomas, who loses his life in the World Trade Center tragedy on 9/11.

Telling us more about the film, Hanks says, “My first understanding of the story was completely from Eric’s screenplay, which I know, having worked with him and worked with Stephen Daldry, that it was going to be a very fluid beginning of what the final movie would be.” He adds, “Sandy (Sandra Bullock) is an amazing actor and a great human being. We hit off really well the moment we met on the sets. She has a fantastic sense of humour and I am glad to have worked with her.”

When asked about how the 55-year-old prefers to unwind, he says, “I am a family man and I love to join the gang with my four kids whenever I can. I love hanging out with my family. I don’t want to change anything in my life, as it is perfect. I love what I do, so I guess that inspires me and keeps me on my toes.” Hanks adds that he is fond of Indian movies and has seen many of them. Speaking about his wish to visit India, he says, “My trip to India is due for a long time now and I would love to visit the country soon.”
