Kartik Aaryan, Rashmika Mandanna, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia and others: Recent injury scares in showbiz
From on-set accidents and action-related injuries to fitness mishaps and recurring medical conditions, here is a list of recent injury scares in showbiz
As several actors have been forced to pause work after suffering injuries on film sets and during fitness routines, we look at the recent medical cases that sent stars into surgery, rest and rehabilitation. Take a look:

Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia
Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia is currently recovering from a back injury she sustained while performing deadlifts under the supervision of her coach. The actor, who suffered a muscle tear in her left lat while shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi around two years ago, says her left side remains weaker and believes fatigue played a role in her latest injury. “My body was fatigued. I was under-slept. Ideally, I shouldn’t have trained that heavy when I clearly didn’t feel mentally relaxed. Especially whilst lifting heavy, your utmost focus is a must,” she tells us. During the set, she experienced a pull in her lower back, followed by acute pain. She immediately consulted a doctor and was relieved to learn that it was not a fracture or slipped disc. “Even though it was a back spasm, it was a terrible one,” she explains.

Nimrit reveals that the first week of her recovery involved complete bed rest, painkillers and rehabilitation, with no walking, while the second week saw her gradually resume walking alongside rehab. “I have finally started training now, but super easy stuff, focusing more on mobility in week three,” she says, adding that being on bed rest has been frustrating and that she has had to cancel two work trips.
Jr NTR
The actor suffered a shoulder injury on July 27, with his team subsequently sharing that doctors had advised six to eight weeks of complete rest and further medical evaluation. On August 11, reports emerged that he would undergo shoulder surgery at KIMS Hospitals in Hyderabad the following day, with his team requesting privacy around his treatment. NTR underwent successful arthroscopic shoulder surgery on August 12 and later personally updated fans, thanking them for their prayers and assuring them that he was doing well. He was discharged on August 13 and has since begun a structured rehabilitation programme under medical supervision. He is expected to gradually return to normal activities over the next two to three months.
Rashmika Mandanna
In August, Rashmika suffered a hip injury while shooting a dance sequence for Mysaa. Doctors subsequently advised her to undergo six weeks of complete rest, along with physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Unlike some of the other actors who have kept details of their recovery private, Rashmika has been relatively open about her healing process, regularly sharing pictures and updates on social media. On August 18, she posted a humorous video about trying to stay away from sugar and desserts while recuperating, with husband and actor Vijay Deverakonda by her side.
Kartik Aaryan
On August 19, reports emerged that Kartik Aaryan had suffered a knee injury while performing an action sequence during the final leg of director Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama. According to reports, the actor was taken to Fortis Raheja Hospital in Mahim, where doctors recommended surgery. The injury occurred during the final two days of filming, temporarily bringing the shoot to a halt. Kartik subsequently underwent successful knee surgery and, by August 22, had returned home. His spokesperson confirmed that the actor is resting and recovering at home and is expected to return to the sets soon. There is, however, no publicly available information on the exact nature of the knee injury or a detailed rehabilitation timeline.
Ram Charan
Ram Charan sustained a right wrist injury while shooting for Peddi, but continued with his professional commitments before travelling to Coimbatore for treatment. On July 27, he underwent successful wrist surgery at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore. Following the procedure, a picture of Charan smiling from his hospital bed surfaced online, with reports indicating that he was recovering well. Doctors have advised around eight weeks of rest and physiotherapy as part of his recovery.
Sonu Nigam
On August 8, singer Sonu Nigam underwent surgery to remove a recurring growth on his left ring finger, a condition that had resurfaced after being surgically removed around four months ago. Speaking to us, he revealed that he believes the recurrence could possibly be linked to an arthritis-related issue, though he stressed that this remains his own speculation.

“I think it’s got to do with some arthritis condition that I have in my bones, probably. We have to wait and watch. It’s come out the second time,” Nigam said. The singer made headlines not for the surgery itself, but for singing Mohammed Rafi’s *Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki* while undergoing the procedure, a moment he explained “just happened organically”. Despite the procedure, Nigam has not taken an extended break from work and has continued with his professional commitments.
Pawan Kalyan
Pawan Kalyan underwent surgery on his right shoulder in Mumbai in July after years of dealing with persistent pain stemming from an injury he sustained in 2016. According to reports, the actor-politician had been living with the condition for nearly a decade before opting for surgery. The procedure lasted around three-and-a-half hours, with doctors also indicating that his left shoulder may require surgery at a later stage.
Following the operation, the hospital said Kalyan was comfortable and recovering well, while his wife, Anna Lezhneva, thanked supporters for their wishes and expressed hope for his speedy recovery. He was discharged after spending four days in hospital. While reports have suggested that he may require a prolonged break from work and could eventually undergo another shoulder procedure, the exact recovery period remains unclear and should be confirmed by his medical team.
Nandamuri Balakrishna
Nandamuri Balakrishna sustained a muscle injury on July 21 while shooting a physically demanding action sequence for his upcoming film NBK 111. The actor reportedly suffered a severe muscle tear during the shoot, following which doctors advised him to take complete rest. The injury forced Balakrishna to temporarily step away from physically demanding work and focus on recovery. Further details about the exact nature of the tear and his rehabilitation timeline have not been publicly disclosed.
