LUCKNOW: Eight people were killed and 18 others injured when a double-decker bus rammed into another bus on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district.

The accident took place when a double-decker bus with about 50 passengers rammed into another bus near Narendrapur Madraha village in Barabanki’s Loni Katra police station limits. About 50 people were in the double-decker bus at the time of the accident, people familiar with the development said.
The injured have been taken to Haidergarh community health centre. Police said three of the injured, whose condition was very critical, have been sent to the trauma centre of King George Medical University in Lucknow.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death of passengers.
He ordered the local administration and police to carry out rescue operations and provide immediate relief to the injured passengers.
