Congress leader P C Chacko asked the AAP MLA to come clean as this is a very serious crime.

“Desecration of the Quran is a charge being made by the Punjab Police against Naresh Yadav. The Aam Aadmi Party just cannot escape by saying that this is political vendetta,” Chacko told ANI.

Yadav, who has been booked for allegedly desecrating the Quran, earlier on Sunday alleged that the ‘restless’ SAD-BJP alliance in Punjab was hatching conspiracies.

Yadav told ANI that the alliance has become restless as the people of Punjab have decided to give absolute majority to the AAP in the upcoming assembly elections.

Chacko said every time, when an AAP MLA is caught either for corruption or for indecent behaviour in public, they always dub it as political vendetta.

The Congress leader, however, also trained his guns at the BJP and said the saffron party is capable of doing similar things.

“I don’t deny that. The BJP Government at the Centre or in Punjab may try to do this with political opponents. They have done it in the past also,” he added.

The Sangrur Police booked Yadav after the alleged mastermind in the case, Vijay Kumar, disclosed that he had desecrated the Quran at the behest of the Mehrauli MLA and was offered Rs one crore for the same.
