Nov 26, 2022 11:31 PM IST

The Union information and broadcasting minister held three public meets in the city on Saturday and said residents were “feeling suffocated” by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), equating it to Delhi’s noxious winter air pollution levels

Union minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday said voters in Delhi will give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a fourth term in the Capital’s civic body as a rejection of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) “fake promises”.

“Arvind Kejriwal has given Delhi a highly corrupt model of governance. He has made false claims that can never be achieved… It is the first time we have seen a government work in such a shameless manner,” said Thakur.

“The people of Delhi want freedom from the pollution, and in the same way, also want to get rid of Kejriwal’s government.” he said.

The BJP held 75 public meetings on Saturday, with 21 of their star campaigners taking part.

Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri, who held public meetings in Janakpuri south and Keshopur, described the upcoming election as a battle between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s model of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’, or a government of revadi (freebies).

“Kejriwal first appeared as someone who wanted to be a social activist, but right now, he is the most corrupt chief minister in the country,” he said.

Nadda, 100 BJP MPs, CMs to campaign today

Meanwhile, senior BJP officials said that party president JP Nadda, along with 100 MPs and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will hold public outreach campaigns on Sunday. Around 100,000 party workers will also go from door to door and meet residents across Delhi’s 13,000 polling stations.

Delhi BJP general secretary Harsh Malhotra said, “Nadda will participate in a door-to-door campaign along with more than 100 MPs and senior party leaders. We will tell people about the work done by the corporation and also tell people about our manifesto.”
