Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Dujana was not too involved in militancy but was just having a good time, Kashmir’s top army official said on Tuesday, describing the slain militant as a “nuisance”.
Dujana, 27, and another militant were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with security forces at a village in Kashmir’s Pulwama district, while the former was allegedly visiting his wife.
One civilian was also killed in the encounter, Kashmir inspector general of police Munir Khan said at a joint press briefing with Lt Gen J Sandhu, the GOC of 15 Corps.
“He was not really involved in many attacks, vo yahan aiyyashi kar raha tha bas, was a nuisance (he was into debauchery),” ANI quoted the army official as saying.
Dujana, hailing from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, carried a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head and figured among top militants of the valley. He was categorised as A++ by security forces.
The IG said security forces will continue their anti-insurgency operations to wipe out militancy from the valley.
“Stone pelting or no pelting, disruptions or no disruptions, our operations will continue,” Khan said, referring to public protests at encounter sites.
“In spite of our warnings and requests, on behest of the terrorists people tend to come in between encounter(s)... that is how they get injured or killed,” he added.
Dujana is the third top militant killed in the valley since last year.
