The unidentified militant was the second to be killed in Kupwara on the same day. In the morning, a suspected Hizbul Mujhahideen commander was killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Nagri area of Kupwara.

More details regarding the encounter are awaited, even as a police said operations were on.
