Vaishnav complained of a chest pain soon after eating dinner with his family members at his Ramnagar residence on Tuesday night. He was rushed to Nanakram Care Hospitals at Musheerabad, where he died while undergoing treatment at around 1.30am.

He was the only son of Dattatreya, who represents Secunderabad parliamentary constituency.

Vaishnav was a third-year medical student at Mediciti Medical College on the outskirts of the city. He was also actively involved in the BJP activities in Secunderabad.

He has a sister Vijayalakshmi.

Sources close to Dattatreya said Vaishnav was following strict diet restrictions to reduce his weight.

“Perhaps, this could be the reason for his sudden heart attack. Otherwise, he does not have any other health problems nor does he have any bad habits,” they said.

A large number of BJP activists gathered in front of the hospital to pay homage to Vaishnav. President of the BJP’s state unit K Laxman, BJP floor leader in the assembly G Kishan Reddy and Telangana Jana Samithi president M Kodandaram and others called on Dattatreya and his family to express their grief at the sudden demise of his only son.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
