The Bharatiya Janata Party — a partner in the ruling combine with Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir — is “gearing up” for the grand celebration of Accession Day of the state with the dominion of India on October 27.

Maharaja Hari Singh, the last Dogra ruler, had signed the instrument of accession on October 26, 1947.

To mark the occasion, the state BJP conducted a meeting on Tuesday to discuss preparations on the Accession Day of the state with the dominion of India under the chairmanship of its state president and MLA Sat Sharma along with state vice-presidents Yudhvir Sethi and Parmod Kapahi, state general secretaries Narinder Singh and Harinder Gupta.

“While chairing the meeting, Sat Sharma took the review of each and every detail with the BJP leaders present in the meeting and said this celebration of Vijay Diwas must be celebrated as Deepawali in every region of the state,” said an official release of the party issued in Jammu.

He allotted responsibilities of the leaders present at the meeting to avoid any confusion at the event.

The BJP, however, couldn’t get a state holiday announced on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh on September 23.
