66-year-old Brij Bhushan has been the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India since 2012.

As senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued for the petitioner wrestlers who complained against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Sibal said the accused has 40 cases against him. "I will give you the list," Sibal said as the Delhi Police informed the top court that it will file an FIR against Brij Bhushan, who is also a BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh's Kaiserganj.

Since 2012, Brij Bhushan is holding the post of the Wrestling Federation of India. A wrestler, and a six-time MP, Brij Bhushan was also associated with the Babri demolition. Brij Bhushan had a short stint with the Samajwadi Party as well in his long political career. In both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he won on the BJP ticket. Sexual harassment allegations against Brij Bhushan surfaced in January this year when the wrestlers took to the street for the first time. However, Brij Bhushan is not new to controversies. Protest will continue: Wrestlers

The protesting wrestlers on Friday said they will continue their protest against Brij Bhushan even as an FIR is being filed against him. The filing of the FIR is the first step towards the victory, the protesters said. The protesters are spending nights at Jantar Mantar camping there until action is taken against Brij Bhushan. In the last five days, five lakh has been spent on the makeshift arrangement including mattresses, bed sheets, fans, speakers, microphones, power gen-set, water, food etc.

Wrestlers' protest and politics

In January, the top wrestlers of the country denied their platform being used as a political ground. But this time they welcomed politicians. AAP's Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj reached the protest site and extended their support of the AAP government to the protesters.
