Cold wave grips parts of T’gana and Tamil Nadu
The official bulletin from Telangana State Planning Development Society stated that Sirpur (U) block in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district of the state recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.9°C on Tuesday morning.
Several parts of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are reeling under cold wave conditions with the mercury falling below the normal levels for the last two days, according to the officials in the know of the matter.

The official bulletin from Telangana State Planning Development Society (TSPDS) stated that Sirpur (U) block in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district of the state recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 5.9°C on Tuesday morning. The same village recorded 4.8°C on Monday, the lowest this year.
Similarly, Tallapalli village of Shahbad block in Ranga Reddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad recorded the lowest temperature of 6°C, followed by 6.1°C at Marpally in Vikarabad, 6.5°C at Bazarhatnoor in Adilabad, 6.8°C at Madnur in Kamareddy and 6.9°C at Zahirabad in Sangareddy district.
In another development, the India Meteorological Department data showed that Ooty in Tamil Nadu recorded a minimum temperature of 4°C on Monday night, lowest for the hill station in winter season. However, minimum temperatures in some other places such as Coonor and Kodiakanal had less than 10°C. Coonor recorded 8°C and Kodiakanal 8.4°C.
In Andhra Pradesh, Lambasing, a popular tourist getaway in Alluri Sitaramaraju district, which is also known as Andhra Kashmir, recorded the lowest temperature of 1°C on Monday and 1.5°C on Tuesday. In the adjacent Chintapalli, the temperature fell down to 2°C.
In all the other areas of Andhra, the minimum temperatures hovered around 14 to 16°C, an according to the IMD bulletin.
The Telangana bulletin informed that the state is under the influence of mainly low-level north-easterly winds. Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, Kamareddy, and Nizamabad districts till Wednesday morning.
The minimum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 9°C and 11°C in northern Telangana districts and 11°C to 14°C in southern and central districts for the next three days.
