The Sonepat police on Saturday received an anonymous letter of a school student alleging gangrape by two staff members of a private school in Gohana town of the district.

In her letter, a copy of which was sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the school director and local media, the student of Om Public School alleged that clerk Karambir and accountant Sukhbir forced sex on her on several occasions in the school. They even forced her to call her friend for the same, but she did not let her friend be a victim of the two men.

“They sexually assaulted me their office in the school. In the evening, they took me to a hotel at Gohana. I did not tell anyone in my family because I live in a rural area and my brother would kill me if he finds out. I wanted to commit suicide, but my friend gave me strength to fight against them,” the victim stated in her letter.

She said that she raised the matter before her class teacher, who promised to take it up the school principal. But the principal showed a callous attitude towards her complaint.

Based on her letter, the Sonepat police have booked the two officials under charges of rape. However, no arrest has been made so far.

“The identity of the girl is unknown. We don’t know in which class she studies. The school principal and teachers have denied receiving any such complaint. They have an internal committee to prevent sexual harassment, which has not received any complaint. We are conducting our investigation by going through records of hotels in the area as the victim has alleged in the complaint that they took her to a hotel also,” DSP Mukesh Jakhar said.

Gohana police station in-charge sub-inspector (SI) Kuldeep said around 1,800 students study in Om Public School, which is considered among top private schools in the area.

The alleged incident comes close on the heels of a series of sexual assault crimes being reported from private schools in Haryana.
