‘Judiciary after people…’: Kejriwal as Delhi HC dismisses plea seeking probe over 'links to Khalistan'
A 2-member division bench of the high court dismissed a PIL filed by Congress leader Jagdish Sharma, terming it ‘frivolous.’
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that even the judiciary has given a befitting reply to those who called him a ‘terrorist,’ as the Delhi high court dismissed a petition, filed by a Congress leader, who claimed that Kejriwal has links with ‘Khalistani separatists.’
“First the people (of Punjab) and now the judiciary has given a befitting reply to all those who called me a terrorist,” the Delhi chief minister posted on Twitter.
According to Bar and Bench, the high court, on Tuesday, refused to entertain a public interest litigation (PIL) petition, filed by Congress leader Jagdish Sharma, seeking a high-level probe against Kejriwal and the AAP over their alleged links with Khalistan separatists.
Headed by acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi, and also comprising Justice Navin Chawla, the division bench observed that the plea was ‘completely frivolous.’ The bench also directed the petitioner's counsel to not file such petitions.
The controversy over Kejriwal's ‘links’ with Khalistani sympathisers erupted last month after former AAP leader and party co-founder Kumar Vishwas claimed that in 2017, the Delhi CM said told him that he (Kejriwal) would either become the Punjab chief minister, or Prime Minister of an independent nation (Khalistan).

While this triggered a war of words between Vishwas and his former party, the opposition, too, jumped in. Kejriwal, meanwhile, responded by calling himself 'the world's first terrorist, who builds schools.'

In the Punjab assembly elections, the polling for which took place on February 20 followed by the counting of votes on March 10, the AAP won an unprecedented mandate, winning 92 out of the border state's 117 assembly constituencies. Its CM face and state unit chief Bhagwant Mann will be sworn-in on Wednesday.
