As campaigning for the May 12 Karnataka assembly elections came to an end on Thursday, political parties addressed multiple rallies in their last attempt to woo voters.

BJP president Amit Shah and the party chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa participated in a roadshow in chief minister Siddaramaiah’s Badami constituency. Shah also addressed a press conference in Bengaluru.

Elections in the state will be held on May 12 and counting of votes will take place on May 15.

4:41 pm: “We don’t distribute tickets on the basis of religion,” says Amit Shah on a query on absence of Muslims among BJP candidates in Karnataka.

4:33 pm: Personal attack might comprise only 2-3 minutes of entire campaign but it gets highlighted more due to TRPs, says Amit Shah.

4:28 pm: Amit Shah says BJP win will at least 130 seats in Karnataka elections, BS Yeddyurappa will be the next chief minister.

4:21 pm: Shah says, “The voter id scandal shows how desperate Congress is to win the elections. Congress are resorting to undemocratic ways to win elections.”

4:18 pm: Amit Shah alleges, “Law and order has completely derailed in the state and we have witnessed a number of officers committing suicide.”

4:15 pm: Siddaramaiah government did nothing for the farmers and they are not even ready to give answers for their failure, alleges BJP president.

4:10 pm: Amit Shah says Siddaramaiah’s government has been a failure.

4:08 pm: BJP has conducted almost 400 rallies, including minor ones, in Karnataka, says BJP president Amit Shah at a press conference in Bengaluru. Over 35 BJP leaders campaigned in the state.

12.20pm: We heard the Congress President make a hollow statement. The press conference seemed to have only been called to address the issue of internal disputes. No issue related to Karnataka was taken up, says BJP leader Piyush Goyal.

“I have been travelling around Karnataka for few months now, we all stood together and fought campaign on fundamental issues. We’ve prepared manifesto which is truly voice of the people. Opposition has restricted itself to making personal remarks,” says Rahul Gandhi.
