Owais Ahmad (24-25-years-old) was hit by pellets in Kakapora area of Pulwama and was taken to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital in Srinagar where he was declared dead.

Kakapora residents said CRPF personnel lobbed tear gas shells and fired pellets on a group of youth who pelted stones at them as they were passing by the area late in the evening.

“The pellets penetrated deep into the chest of the young man,” said a local of Pulwama.

CRPF spokesman Rajesh Yadav said he was yet to get details about the incident.

The Pulwama death came hours after a civilian, who was wounded in a petrol bomb attack in Dalgate area of Srinagar on Saturday evening, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
