Police on Thursday arrested the son of the illegal firecracker factory owner in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi where 14 people, including nine children, were killed in a blast on August 31. Adil sustained bullet injuries in both legs during the encounter and was admitted to the district hospital.

According to police, a team surrounded Adil around 2am on Thursday and signalled him to stop. Fearing arrest, he allegedly tried to flee and allegedly opened fire at the police, firing two rounds, CO Shivank Singh said.

Police retaliated, hitting Adil in both legs. He was subsequently taken to the district hospital for treatment, he added.

The development comes a day after police arrested factory owner Naushad, 50, following an encounter. He had suffered a bullet injury in his leg while allegedly trying to flee the city.
