Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi was caught on camera Friday allegedly using a cuss word to rebuke an official and making fun of his weight after receiving a complaint of corruption against him.

In the video which went viral, Gandhi, who was chairing a meeting in Baheri block here, is seen rebuking and body shaming a government official accused of corruption. Hindustan Times cannot verify the authenticity of the video.

The minister can be seen listening to the complaints of her party members and locals against a food and civil supply department inspector. “Sharam karo...Ek to tum haram***e ki tarah mote ho...” the minister says, body shaming the official in a room full of district officials and locals. She further rebukes the official and calls him “bahut bure aadmi (very bad man).”

Maneka Gandhi could not be reached for comment on the matter. Senior BJP officials and BJP district president refused to say anything.

The officer at the receiving end of her fury also refused to comment on the issue and called it ‘an internal matter.’

“Maneka Gandhiji was upset over the poor state of public distribution system in the area and so she rebuked the official,” a local BJP leader who was present at the meeting said on condition of anonymity.

After the meeting, the minister told reporters that she would initiate investigation against the officials posted in Baheri for corruption in the public distribution system (PDS). She also accused local party leaders of turning a blind eye to these anomalies.
