"We received information at 12:30pm that an oil tanker has caught fire after hitting the divider on a flyover. Four to five fire tenders, along with the civil and police administration, immediately reached the spot. Traffic has been diverted," news agency ANI quoted the senior police officer as saying.

According to local media reports, the vehicle was on its way from Jalandhar to Mandi Gobindgarh when it experienced tyre burst on a national highway, overturned, hit a divider, eventually catching fire.

Fortunately, however, there were no fatalities and injuries as the two occupants of the tanker – its driver and cleaner – managed to exit the vehicle before it caught fire.
