Red Fort blast: Delhi Police hunt for ‘red car’ linked to prime suspect Dr Umar

The alert follows findings that other suspects, already connected to the Hyundai i20 used in the explosion, were also in possession of another red-colored car.

The Delhi Police has issued an alert across all police stations, posts, and border checkpoints in the national capital to trace a red Ford EcoSport suspected to be linked to the Red Fort blast case, sources said on Wednesday.

5 police teams deployed to locate vehicle

At least five Delhi Police teams have been deployed to locate the vehicle, while the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana Police have also been put on alert to maintain heightened vigilance and help in the search, the above-mentioned sources said.

Sources identified the red Ford EcoSport as being registered in the name of Dr Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect in the Delhi blast case.

The car’s registration details have been circulated to all border units, and the information has been shared with the UP and Haryana Police to intensify the search.

The vehicle is also suspected to have been used by Umar for reconnaissance activities, the source said.

PM Modi met Red Fort blast survivors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited LNJP Hospital on Wednesday to meet the survivors of the Red Fort blast that occurred earlier this week.

Heavy security was deployed in and around the hospital, where the injured are undergoing treatment.

After returning from Bhutan, the prime minister went directly to LNJP Hospital to meet those hurt in the blast, officials said.

He interacted with the injured, wished them a speedy recovery, and was briefed by hospital officials and doctors, the sources added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the hospital to meet the survivors on Monday.
