The body of Parulbala Roy was recovered from a forest in Hapania’s Kalyanpara, on the outskirts of Agartala on Sunday, police said.
The victim’s daughter identified the body as of her mother. She was killed and then set on fire, police said.
The woman’s son Gautam Roy was arrested on Sunday evening. He would be produced before the court on Monday, police said, adding that a case was registered against him under section 302/201 of IPC.
Gautam and his wife had bitter relationship with her. He reportedly used to physically abuse her that further forced her to stay at an old age home for a few years, police said.
“It is suspected that property dispute led the murder,” said SP police control room in-charge Harakumar Debbarma.
