A SpiceJet plane overshot the runway at the Shirdi Airport by around forty metres late on Monday afternoon . The incident took place at 4.30pm. All passengers are safe but flight operations have temporarily been halted. According of sources from the Shirdi airport, the incident took place due to manual error.

The incident took place at 4.30pm. All passengers are safe but flight operations have temporarily been halted. According of sources from the Shirdi airport, the incident took place due to manual error.

The plane was flying in from Delhi.

“While landing at Shirdi, the aircraft overshot the runway. Passengers and crew are safe and are being deplaned normally,” read a statement from the airline.

In the last few weeks, SpiceJet has been rapidly expanding its fleet in the wake of the suspension of operations by Jet Airways on April 17.

SpiceJet has also expanded its work force, hiring nearly 500 former Jet Airways employees.
