A 15-year-old girl was allegedly poisoned to death after gangrape by three men in a village in Bhattu tehsil of Fatehabad on Tuesday, district police said.
The accused, two of whom have been identified as cousins, were booked on the complaint filed by the victim’s father after she died during treatment at the Fatehabad civil hospital late Tuesday.
The complainant told police said he and his wife had gone to work on nearby fields on Tuesday and found their daughter missing on returning home. He alleged that while they were trying to trace their daughter, two men of the same area dropped her home at 3pm and told him that they had taken the girl to hospital as she was feeling sick, police said.
“It was only when her health deteriorated and we rushed her to the civil hospital that she narrated the entire episode. She told us that the accused forced her to consume some green-coloured poisonous substance after gangraping her,” the father mentioned in his complaint.
Fatehabad (City) DSP Gurdyal Singh, while confirming the case, said, “The victim’s father had filed a case at Bhattu police station stating that his daughter was abducted by three persons, who took her to Chopta Road, few kilometers away from the victim’s house, and gangraped her.”
A case under Sections 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting) of the IPC and Section 6 (Punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act has been registered against two identified and one unidentified person.
“No arrest has been made so far,” the DSP said.
Meanwhile, an identified accused in the case has also consumed some poisonous substance and is currently admitted in Hisar’s Agroha medical college, where his condition is said to be critical.
Postmortem report confirms death by poison
The DSP said, “We have received the postmortem report and the cause of death is due to poison. But to get more clarity into the matter, we have sent the viscera to the forensic lab in Karnal’s Madhuban. More details will come to the fore after getting the chemical examination report.”
Sources at the hospital claimed that no internal or external injury was found during the autopsy.
