Two BJP workers accused of rape in MP’s Sehore district, one arrested
Madhya Pradesh police registered a case of rape against two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers of Sehore district and arrested one of them on Sunday. A 28-year-old woman accused them of rape in her complaint lodged with the police on Saturday.
The woman, who works with a real estate firm, alleged that she was first raped by Rajaram Malviya and then by his friend Mukesh Thakur, said police.
Police arrested Malviya, who runs a skill development centre in Sehore. He claimed to be a member of the BJP state unit’s Scheduled Caste wing, said police. A hunt has been launched for Thakur, police added.
According to the complainant, Thakur introduced himself to her as Dewas MP Manohar Untwal’s representative.
Untwal denied that Thakur was his representative.
“A case has been registered against the accused under sections related to rape and criminal intimidation,” said inspector BD Beera of Astha police station.
Sehore district BJP president Sitaram Yadav said, “We came to know about the FIR, reportedly against BJP workers. We are gathering information and will act accordingly.”
In her complaint, the woman said she joined Malviya’s skill development centre as an employee two years ago. She alleged that this was when he raped her and later Thakur too sexually abused her.
Inspector Beera said, “She alleged that they raped her several times, threatening her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the abuse.”
She also alleged that the duo forced her to leave Sehore. “The woman informed her family members about her ordeal a few days ago,” Beera added.
