Villagers beat up three men in the Jadugora police limit area on Thursday night because they suspected them of being child lifters. One succumbed to his injuries while two others were admitted to hospital by the police.

Another person was seriously injured after villagers thrashed him badly on Wednesday on the same suspicion in the area, police said, adding that the victim was rushed to MGM Hospital here, where he succumbed on Thursday.

Deputy superintendent of police (Musaboni) Ajit Kumar Vimal said no child was recovered from the victims who seemed to be mentally unsound and beggars.
