Two militants killed in encounter with security forces in Arunachal Pradesh

Acting on reports regarding movement of insurgents, security forces launched an operation in Sonya Noksa village in Arunachal Pradesh, an army statement said. Security forces came under fire from a hut and as they retaliated, the two insurgents holed up in the hut were killed, it added.

Two insurgents were killed by security forces in an encounter in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh. According to an official statement, the operation was launched by Khonsa Battalion of the Indian Army’s DAO division near Sonya Noksa village on July 11.

Acting on reports regarding movement of insurgents between Longding and Khonsa, the security forces launched an operation in the vicinity of Sonya Noksa village, the statement said.

While approaching the village, the security forces came under fire from a hut, the statement added. As they retaliated, the two insurgents holed up in the hut were killed.

The bodies, in combat dress, were recovered in a search operation in the morning of July 12, the statement said. An AK series rifle and a pistol have been recovered, the statement said, and added that efforts were on to ascertain their identity.
