While slamming the chief minister, Raje said, "The truth is that neither the Gandhi family nor their MLAs are listening to Gehlot ji. Afraid of the impending defeat, Gehlot is saying anything to appear in the eyes of Rahul Gandhi, while the records of development set by Modi ji are neither past nor future".

Gehlot on Wednesday said that PM Modi should have refrained from making political remarks after the latter compared development during the BJP government at the Centre and the previous governments at an event in Nathdwara.

"Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji should have refrained from criticizing the previous governments by making political statements in my presence as the Chief Minister of the state at Nathdwara's official function today. Modiji said that why the railway line, electricity line and medical college were not opened earlier? Probably Modi ji forgot that the kind of well-groomed country he got, he got it after 67 years of development after independence. This country was not built in a day", he said.

He further said that PM Modi should have thanked the predecessing governments instead of insulting them as they handed over such a country to him.

"The meaning of today's Modiji's speech was as if a 21-year-old youth who was in the job should be told why you didn't join the job 20 years ago. I would like to appeal to Mr Narendra Modi that as a Prime Minister, instead of insulting your predecessors in government programs, you should thank them because they handed over such a country to Modiji, due to which he is able to represent the country in the world today", he tweeted.

Drawing comparisons between the periods before and after 2014, PM Modi had said that the country had roughly 50,000 seats for MBBS every year whereas that number has gone up to more than 1 lakh today. He added that the number of postgraduate seats has gone up to more than 65,000 from roughly 30,000 before 2014.

"When intentions are clear and there is a sense of social service, then such resolutions are taken and accomplished," PM Modi said.

A political row has been triggered within the Congress and state after the party leader Sachin Pilot launched an all-out attack against Gehlot after the latter claimed Raje had 'saved his government from toppling in 2020 amid the rebellion of Pilot and 18 MLAs against the CM's leadership. He also announced to announced to begin 'Jan Sangharsh Yatra', a five-day foot march from May 11 from Ajmer to Jaipur to raise issues of corruption.

Pilot's harsh words mark an escalation in his conflict with Gehlot and come months before Rajasthan assembly elections.
