1 dead, 2 hurt in attack on J&K police station

Terrorists hurled grenades and showered bullets from automatic rifles at the police station, taking policemen by surprise.

One special police officer was killed and two others were injured in a terrorist attack on a police station in Bhaderwah onThursday evening.

"The attack took place around 6.15 pm. The exact nature of the attack and the losses are not immediately known. We are trying to find out," Jammu zone Inspector General of police Sheeshu Pal Vaid said.

A group of militants hurled grenades and showered bullets from automatic rifles at the police station, taking policemen by surprise.

The chief minister is monitoring the situation, he said.

This is the first major terrorist assault in Bhaderwah since the election campaign took off in the constituency, also known as mini Kashmir because of its immense beauty.
