17 Naxals lay down arms in Andhra Pradesh

Seventeen Naxalites belonging to various outfits, including a deputy commander and four women, surrendered to police in Warangal on Tuesday.

The Naxalites surrendered before the Deputy Inspector General of Police BL Meena.

Meena said the Naxalites decided to leave the outfits, as they were frustrated with the ideology.

They also surrendered five 303 guns and two revolvers, he added.
He appealed the underground Naxalites to shun violence and join the mainstream.

Of the 17 Naxals, five belonged to Maoists, seven to Prathighatna Godavari Loya, three to Janashakti, one each to Prajapanda and Jana Natya Mandali.

M Sambiah, Deputy Commander of Chityal area was among the five surrendered Maoists.
