Police have registered 18 election related cases from the time of commencement of election process in the Union Territory of Pondicherry, Additional Senior Superintendent of Police B Srikanth said on Wednesday.

Talking to newspersons in Pondicherry, he said three cases were booked under the Disfigurement Act, three for loud speaker offences, five under the Representation of Peoples Act and the rest under IPC and special cases.
The process of execution of non-bailable warrants were on and so far 350 to 400 warrants were executed.
Only 18 cases were pending which was under process, he said adding that out of the 155 licensed arms in Pondicherry, 136 had been surrendered with the police stations.
The police have allowed licence arms for banks to use for security reasons.
Srikanth said Central forces sought for the elections would reach Pondicherry after April 20.
He also said that a vigorous training was imparted to all police personnel in connection with the elections.
