The arrests were made after police raided Kohli Pathology and Blood Bank in Aliganj on Sunday evening after receiving a tip off about the practices of the blood bank owners, police said on Monday.

The owners - Vinay Kohli and Chitra Kohli, both doctors - of the blood bank were not arrested as they were in the United States to attend a conference, they said.

Interrogation of the arrested donors has revealed that they used to sell their blood four-five times in a month and used to get Rs 270 for it, police claimed.

The time-gap between two blood donations should be three months, medical experts said.

Chief Medical Officer KK Singh said he had received a report from the police and procedure for sealing the pathology and blood bank had been initiated.
