This year 34 entries were received from contestants from US, Dubai, Mumbai, Bangalore and different districts in the state for the contest, being jointly organised by Impresario Event Management and Fast Moving Consumer Goods major ITC owned Vivel.
The contestants will be judged in four rounds-- Designer Saree, Western casuals, Gown and traditional Kerala attire round, Ram Menon, Pageant Director, told reporters in Kerela.
Archana Nair, a second year student of Bio Medical Engineering from Standford university in US, said 'being able to represent my true heritage is a source of great pride'.
Archana, born and brought up in the US, said she had gained confidence after having participated in few pageants in the US and won titles like 'Miss Teen India America', and 'Miss American Malayalee'.
Amalda Joseph from the hilly Wayanad district, known for its spices and coffee plantations, where many farmers had committed suicide during 2001-2004 period trapped in the cycle of loan debts, is among the contestants.
Chintu Christy, a Commerce student from Thiruvananthapuram, said her strength was her confidence. Seventeen year old Malavika Wales from Thrissur, who is a plus student, is the youngest participant.
The winners of the contest will be adorned with a Golden crown sponsored by a jewellery in Kerela.
