24 Tamils abducted in Sri Lanka: Military
The Lankan forces blamed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam for the abductions.

Tamil rebels have kidnapped 24 Tamil teenagers, mostly girls, while they were attending class ahead of annual examinations, the Sri Lankan military said Tuesday.
The reported kidnapping took place in eastern Amparai on Monday evening, according to the military's spokesman, Brig Prasad Samarasinghe.
He blamed the country's rebel group, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
A person who answered the telephone at rebel headquarters in Kilinochchi said officials there were not immediately available to comment.
