TWENTY-SIX VILLAGES of Gorakhpur division have been identified as Naxalite-affected. Twenty-five of these villages are in Deoria district and one in Kushinagar district. After a survey, a list of 680 Naxal-affected villages was handed over to the State Government. The affected villages in Gorakhpur division are Karaudi, Sarora, Baretha, Vishunpura Bazaar, Lohrauli, Balua Afgar, Raibari, Bankata, Manjharia, Aminu Chak, Mahua, Rajpur and Koria Kat Hariya .

The affected villages in Gorakhpur division are Karaudi, Sarora, Baretha, Vishunpura Bazaar, Lohrauli, Balua Afgar, Raibari, Bankata, Manjharia, Aminu Chak, Mahua, Rajpur, Koria Kat Hariya, Sirsiya Pawar, Bansgdev Chak alias Gobrahi, Tola Ahibaran Rai, Mehrauna, Mayapur, Churiya, Katghara, Tilauli, Rampur Bujurg, Rampur Kothi, Chhapra Dubauli and Bankata Bazaar.
Besides, there are 226 villages in Chandauli, 88 in Mirzapur, 254 in Sonbhadra, 33 in Ghazipur, 54 in Ballia and two in Mau.
The State Government has decided to launch a comprehensive development programme under the Samagra Gram Vikas Yojna in these villages.
Chief secretary R Ramni has directed the district magistrates concerned to keep a close vigil on these villages and send proposals for their all- development.
Sources said the State Government would construct approach roads, drains, public lavatories, primary schools and launch family welfare schemes in these villages.
