32 militants surrender in Assam

32 militants belonging to different outfits surrendered before the army with huge quantities of arms and ammunition in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district.

As many as 32 militants belonging to different outfits on Monday surrendered before the army with huge quantities of arms and ammunition in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district.

The militants surrendered at the Dinjan army camp before senior army and district officials.

Among them, fifteen, including a woman cadre, are from United Liberation Front of Assom (ULFA), four from National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isac Muivah (NSCN-IM), three each from National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) and Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF), five from Adivasi National Liberation Army (ANLA) and one each from National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) and Dima Halam Daoga (DHD), official source said.

The militants surrendered twelve 9 mm pistols, two .38 revolvers, five 8 mm pistols, three Chinese made pistols, three 7.65 pistols, seven China made grenades, three rifles and huge quantities of AK-series and other ammunition.

Speaking on the occasion, ULFA militants said that they decided to surrender as they were disillusioned with the activities of the senior leaders of the outfit.
