4 Lashkar terrorists arrested in Baramulla

The terrorists were arrested in Baramulla district on Sunday and have confessed to planning a suicide attack on security forces.

Security forces have arrested four Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists who were planning a suicide attack in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt the forthcoming assembly bypolls, defence sources said on Monday.

Terrorists, identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Aijaz Ahmad Shah and Samiullah Shah, were arrested in Baramulla district on Sunday and have confessed to planning a suicide attack on security forces in Sangrama area of the district, the sources said.

They said terrorists told their interrogators that the objective behind the suicide attack was to instil fear among the people against voting during the April 24 bypoll in the three assembly segments of the district.

One AK rifle, one pistol, 66 assorted rounds and 12 hand grenades were recovered from ultras, the sources said, adding they were later handed over to special task force of state police at Sopore for further investigation.
