ON THE second day of international conference on ‘Wind Energy: Trends and Issues’ (WETI-2006) at NITTTR, Bhopal, four technical papers were presented by various experts today.

Windmill manufacturing company ‘Vestas RRB’ Chennai’s General Manager G Raha chaired the session and NITTTR’s senior faculty Prof V H Radhakrishnan conducted the session.

Prof Ziaul Badar of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee discussed various aspects about wind tunnel testing of a typical wind turbine tower. Prof S S Kedar of NITTTR made a presentation on producing video programmes on wind turbine generators. He explained the technological development in wind energy and scarcity of trained degree and diploma holders to serve the wind sector.

Prof E Fernandez of IIT Roorkee discussed the artificial neurological networking (ANN), a new way of identifying the windy spots of the country for wind farm developers to invest in.

After the technical session, participants visited Dewas Wind Farms. In Dewas wind turbines of major manufacturers like ENERCON, Vestas RRB, SUZLON and others have been installed.
