40 bonded labourers freed in Muzaffarnagar

Forty bonded labourers, including women and children were freed from a brick kiln at Titerwara village in the district on Friday, police said.

Forty bonded labourers, including women and children were freed from a brick kiln at Titerwara village in the district on Friday, police said.

Following a direction from Allahabad High Court, police raided the brick klin and rescued the labourers.

A social activist Khalid Ahmad had recently filed a petition in the court alleging that several workers were working as bonded labourers and were paid paltry amount.

Steps are being taken to rehabilitate the rescued labourers, police said.
