According to the Chairman and Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, Awnish Awasthi the Corporation has drawn up plans in a big way for solving the power shortage problem in the Sangam city.
Around Rs 334 lakh is likely to be spent on the installation of 40 MVA transformer at Minto Road power sub-station in the city. This transformer is likely to be installed and made functional within ten days.
All the required equipment have been already rushed to the sub-station, said the UPPCL Chairman and Managing Director. With the installation of transformer the power supply to Mayo Hall, Beli Road , New MES and Teliarganj sub-stations would improve qualitatively. Memeber of Parliament Reoti Raman Singh the transformer has requested to make the transformer operational within ten days, added Awasthi.
He said that the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, which is losing Rs 800 crore annually due to power thefts, has decided to introduce the high-voltage density system (HVDM), which will make power thefts impossible. With the introduction of new technology, those pilfering power from overhead wires could get electrocuted, he said.
