Mount Carmel School, Anand Niketan, recently celebrated its 40th Founder's Day with great enthusiasm. The founding principal Dr VK Williams addressed the assembly and urged the students to have a living relationship with their creator. The chief guest on the occasion was G Dawson, who congratulated the school on its wonderful journey so far and encouraged the students and staff to press forward in the quest of excellence.
The students performed brilliantly amidst cheers and shared their pride on being part of this prestigious institution. The retired teachers spoke about their proud association with the school and shared some anecdotes. A few alumnus of Mount Carmel School expressed their gratitude towards the school for inculcating strong values in them that have been the reason for the success they have attained in their chosen careers.
GD Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, organised Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2011-2012 at the school premises. The event was presided over by the school principal DM Sharma and the vice-principal Swadesh Kumar. It was conducted with a high degree of sincerity and enthusiasm.
The principal announced the various posts and the student authorities were presented the school flag. He administered the oath of office to the elected members. Taking the oath, the head boy - Simarjeet Singh Lamba, head girl - Sanya Khanna, cultural secretary Anirudh Bhatia and Akriti Gupta, sports captain Sumer Dev and Gayatri Chandra, the house captains and the prefects pledged their commitment to choose the 'harder right, instead of the easier wrong'.
The principal emphasised the pressing need to uphold the school motto 'Higher, Stronger, Brighter'. The newly appointed office-bearers vowed to act as role models for the rest of the school to emulate. The ceremony ended with the national anthem.
Mount Abu Public School, Sector - 5, Rohini, organised the 7th under-11 cricket tournament where 32 teams from several Delhi schools such as DPS, Ryan International, Venkateshwar, etc., participated. After a series of matches, the teams of KR Mangalam, Ryan International, Mount Abu and the host school reached the semi-finals.
The final match was played between Mount Abu and Ryan International, Rohini, where Mount Abu scored 276 runs and won the tournament. As per the tradition of the school, the winning trophy was handed over to Ryan International team.
The chief guest on the occasion, Pravesh Wahi, chairman, MCD (Rohini Zone), appreciated the winners for their brilliant performance. The tournament was sponsored by Mitsubishi and Purple Rose Art Media Institute.
