Mukesh Mahesh Thakkar, a 48-year-old businessman, jumped from his seventeenth floor residence in the Seth Minar building near Jaslok Hospital in the wee hours of the morning, police officials said.

"He struck the garage wall of the building and was killed on impact," they said.

Police officials said Thakkar is survived by a wife, daughter and son who have said they have no suspicions of foul play in the incident.

"As per information we have received so far Thakkar, a clearing and forwarding agent, was under stress due to financial problems arising due to lack of business," police officials said.

However, no suicide note has been found in Thakkar's house, they said.
