However, no casualties were reported in the incident, they added.
According to police, the fire, which was noticed at around 7.45 am, spread from the main entrance to the adjacent truck parking area and then to the exhibition area in which four trucks and around 60 stalls were gutted.
The fir brigade personnel brought the fire under control within an hour.
"The fire started at around 7.45 am has been brought under control now after four fire engines were pressed into service," an investigating officer said.
Even though further investigation is underway, fire officials suspect that the fire could have caused due to short circuit.
