7 killed in J&K road accident

The incident occurred when a passenger bus skidded off the road and fell into the gorge in Poonch district.

Seven persons were killed and 19 injured, two of them seriously, when a passenger bus they were travelling in plunged down a deep gorge in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

The incident occurred when a passenger bus which was on its way from Rajouri to Loran Mandi in Surankote, skidded off the road and fell into the gorge at Machka (Bhimber Gali) area in Poonch district around 1410 hours, official sources said.

Six passengers died on the spot and 19 were injured, they said, adding that the wounded were shifted to hospitals in Surankote and Poonch areas where they were undergoing treatment.

Another person succumbed to injuries at the hospital taking the death toll to seven, they said.
